Y9 Induction Week

This information is to inform you of the details of the Year 9 induction programme being held during the first week of school for our new students. A programme has been put together to help our Year 9 students adjust to their new surroundings and to feel a part of Onehunga High School. The first day of school for all Year Nine students is Tuesday 7 February.  Students are to be at school ready for the pōwhiri to start at 9:00am.

Below are the activities and events that are planned for the rest of the week week:

MEET THE DEANS EVENING: 

Because of the delayed start to the school year due to the Auckland flooding event we have had to reschedule the Meet the Deans/Kaitiaki evening.  We would now like to invite all families to meet the year level dean on Thursday 9^th February from 4:30-5:30pm.  These meetings will be held in different locations around the school.  The purpose is to meet and hear from the Deans and Kaitiaki teachers and to enable families to ask any questions that they may have.The following are the venues for the meetings:

 Year 9: Ms Sarah Cotton in the Gymnasium

Year 10: Ms Sarah Wang in Te Kupenga Wānanga (downstairs atrium)

Year 11: Mr Jeff McKay in Te Kupenga Wānanga (upstairs classrooms)

Year 12: Ms Terouru Huri in PE classrooms (upstairs Gym 2-3)

Year 13: Ms Bex Muipu in A1-A2

The Deans and Kaitiaki teachers are looking forward to meeting with families and discussing issues relevant to each cohort for the year ahead.

BYOD:

We would appreciate all students bringing their devices in to school from the first day to enable them to register these for the school wifi system and to begin using devices in Kaitiaki and subject classes.

PE GEAR:

Year 9 students will need to have their PE gear for use on Wednesday and Thursday of Orientation Week.  This can be purchased from the uniform shop at school or from the School Uniform Centre.

• February 7^th - First day of school for all Students
• February 23^rd: School athletics Day
• March 8-11: Polyfest
• March 10^th: Staff only day
• March 14 and March 16: Three-way conversations
• April 6^th: Learning reflections reports emailed out / last day of term 1
