CAMP GROUPS:

Each Kaitiaki class will be put into one of our two camp groups - Te Kaha and Te Mana.    The groups are put together to ensure that the number in each group is even.   To be fair to all we do not allow students to swap groups to be with friends etc.    

Te Kaha - 10AL / 10CW / 10SO / 10SL / 10MX - Te Kaha Final Letter (order of activities)

Te Mana - 10PS / 10RD / 10DB / 10MK / 10WHA - Te Mana Final Letter (order of activities)

 

 

Overview

The Y10 Active Lifestyles Programme for 2019 is fast approaching. It is being run over the 5 school days from Monday 2 December to Friday 6 December. Each student will be involved all the activities.   Details of the activities are below

  • Mangawhai Heads Camp (3 Days / 2 nights) – The students stay at Moirs Point Camp which is situated on the sheltered estuary at Mangawhai. Students are involved in activities such as Kayaking, Adventure Based Learning Activities, Surf Survival and Problem Solving activities.
  • Rangitoto Island (Day Activity) – The students will catch a ferry across to the Island and spend the day walking to the summit, and exploring the Lava Caves on the Island.
  • Cheltenham Beech / North Head(Day Activity) – The students travel to Devonport by ferry and spend the day involved in activities at Cheltenham Beach and North Head.

COST:

The cost of the programme has been finalised at $210. This includes

  • Transport to all venues – (Buses and Ferries)
  • Activity Costs (Outside Instructors etc)
  • All meals at Mangawhai Heads apart from lunch on the first day
  • Equipment Hireage – Surf Boards, Kayaks, Lifejackets etc

The final date for payment will be Friday 16 November.

There is an expectation that Y10 students will take part in the week. If the cost is a concern, in some cases we will be able to assist families. Please contact Mr Bryce Griffiths (Y10 Dean) on 09-636-6006 ext 8043 at school directly to discuss this. Our aim is to ensure that all students get the opportunity to attend camp.
