23rd March 2020

Kia ora Parents and Guardians,

As you will be aware the Government has made the decision to lift the alert level for the country to Level 3 and then in 48 hours to Level 4. This means that all schools are closed from tomorrow. We appreciate this is a sudden and significant change, and is disruptive for everyone.

Children of Essential Services Workers:
We will have staff at school tomorrow and Wednesday for students whose parents are essential service workers.  Any essential service workers' children who attend on Tuesday or Wednesday must sign in at main reception and we will have staff available to work with them during the day. All other children must remain home with their whanau. School bus services are unlikely to be running.

Ongoing Learning:
Teachers over the next few days will be preparing to provide extra resources and activities for students to support their ongoing learning. These will be communicated with students via google classroom. All students know how to access these classroom pages. New activities and resources will be added over the next few days for students to work on.

Communicating with you:
We will continue to communicate with you regularly via
- Email
- Notifications via the Onehunga High School app (available on IOS and Google Play)
- And our Parent / Student Portal at www.my.ohs.school.nz

Specific information about COVID19 and what the government is asking us all to do can be found at www.COVID19.govt.nz.

If you have any concerns about you or your child’s health, please ensure that you contact Healthline, or your GP for advice.

We will continue to update you over the coming days. Thank you for your ongoing support of our staff and school community.

Ngā mihi
