Tēnā koutou katoa,

With the shift in alert levels announced by the Prime Minister last night, we now have to move back to the Alert Level 3 protocols at school. We appreciate this is a sudden and significant change and will again be disruptive and challenging to many people in the community. I want to assure you that we will continue to support your child’s learning during this period to minimise any disruption.

There are several key messages for whānau: These are:

Attendance at School:
The school will be open for students who need to attend. If your child is going to attend please let us know by emailing gleadbeater@ohs.school.nz with your child’s name and Kaitiaki, the day before they start attending.
If there is a parent or caregiver available to look after students at home, students are encouraged to continue learning at home.
If your child has a health condition that means they are at greater risk of a severe illness, or if your child is sick, you must keep them at home.
Students who are attending school will be placed in a “bubble” of up to 20 students, and will not be able to mix with students in other “bubbles” during the day. Students who attend school should bring their food/water bottles and chromebook each day. Please note that Lunches in Schools is not currently running, and the school cafe is not open.

Upcoming Events:
NCEA Evening: Our planned NCEA evening that was to take place tomorrow evening (Monday 1 March) has been postponed. We will advise a new date for this event once it has been confirmed.

Sports Trainings: Under Alert Level 3, all school sport trainings, competitions and events will not be run. Updates on the resumption of sport will be provided as we hear from College Sport. Students can follow government guidelines around safe individual exercise during this period.

3 Way Conversations: The school is currently working on a plan for the hosting of three-way conversations that are currently scheduled for Monday 8th-Tuesday 9th March. Bookings can continue to be made on the www.parentinterviews.co.nz website (event code: JFMES3YV). Please refer to the earlier email from the school with details on how to make bookings. Digital interviews are encouraged. This can be selected as part of the booking process.

Learning from Home:
Teaching and Learning will now revert back to online learning for the duration of Alert Level 3. Please see the link below for information about online learning. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fg8gCT4oDR3VwNQboem-_s6Fz_3IHNmnjLrZKLOT0q0/edit?usp=sharing
If your child’s device is unable to be used, please contact the school on 09-636-6006 or via email at ps@ohs.school.nz and we will see what we can do to help.

Collection of Resources: Students will be able to come into school to collect any required materials or resources to support their learning at home. Please see the link below for specific information about what resources are able to be collected. Note - most students will not need to come into school.

Assessment:
Assessment will continue where possible. We want to assure whānau that students will not be disadvantaged by this disruption. If students require an extension for an assessment they just need to contact their Dean. Some assessment dates in certain subjects may be extended. Please check Classroom pages for any update to assessment dates. If students have any concerns, they are to contact their Dean in the first instance.
