Posted in Alert Level 3 - Y12/13 Students attending school

Date: 18 August 2020

Tēnā koutou,

The Ministry of Education has advised that we are able to have Y12 and Y13 students attend school in situations where a more structured environment that is supervised by a teacher who can provide help and support would be beneficial.

There are several key messages for families. These are:

The school will only be open for students:

- In Y9 and Y10 children of workers in employment that are deemed “essential” or “safe” are among those who may attend school.

- Y12 and Y13 students who would prefer to work in a structured environment that is supervised by a teacher who can provide help and support when required.

- If there is a parent or caregiver available to look after a Y9 or Y10 student at home, students are encouraged to continue learning at home.

- If your child has a health condition that means they are at greater risk of a severe illness, or if your child is sick, you must keep them at home.

- All other students are required to continue to work from home. They are not allowed to attend school. If students need to pick up resources they may do so between 9.30am and 11.30am each day. Students must sign in at the office and maintain physical distancing on site.

- Y12 and 13 students attending school will not be in their normal subject classes. They will be expected to follow the following guidelines have been put in place to ensure the wellbeing of students and staff. They are based on guidelines from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education which schools are required to follow.

Attendance:
If your child is going to be attending school they must be registered. Please email your child's name and Kaitiaki to Mr Leadbeater at gleadbeater@ohs.school.nz the day before your child is going to attend school, so we can place your child into the appropriate learning bubble.

We will continue to ensure that we keep you updated as new information becomes available. If you have any queries or concerns please contact the school on 09-636-6006 or via email at ps@ohs.school.nz.
