Tough Guy and Gal Challenge 2022

Not for the faint hearted, the Tough Guy and Gal Challenge, held at the Kumeu Showgrounds this year, is a grueling 6km mud run. Competitors run through mud, ponds, over and under obstacles as fast as they can.

Students from Level 1 Services, Level 3 Physical Training and Coaching and Level 3 Construction PE, took part in this year’s event, which formed part of their assessment for NCEA credits. Students had to complete the course as fast as possible, formulate a risk management plan and demonstrate self management strategies. Students had a wonderful day and finished covered in mud and very tired but with a huge sense of accomplishment and pride having challenged themselves and demonstrated loyalty and courage in the race to the finish line.

Our students proved they are indeed tough! With over 1000 participants from schools all over Auckland, this is a very competitive challenge. Congratulations to everyone who took part! The following students were exceptional:

Deanne Philpott 11Lu - 3rd Junior Girl across the line

Luke Grant 11Ll - 3rd Junior Boy

Ben Webb 13Cw - 10th Senior Boy

Onehunga High School- 4th Toughest School Female

Congratulations Mr Coombes who won 1st Male Teacher.
