On Wednesday, forty-five Junior students attended a St John's workshop known as "3 Steps for Life", where they learned the necessary skills to save someone's life and provide CPR in case of an emergency. This event was run through our Health Science Academy to nurture an interest in the sciences and a career in the Health and Medical fields for our junior students.
This was an amazing opportunity provided by Amelia Noyes, who is also an ex-student (class of 2016), and leads this programme in the North Island region as lead Community educator with Hato Hone St John. Amelia was also a guest speaker at our Health Science Academy Fono earlier on in the year. Amelia credits where she is today, to the staff and her fellow OHS students and this is what motivates her to want to give back to the school. We are delighted to have Amelia come back as the educator and teach us the very important skills and knowledge she has. All our students were engaged throughout the session, asked great questions, and walked away buzzing. Big thank you Mia for your time!
