One of the most enjoyable evenings of the year at Onehunga High School is the dinner we host for Onehunga / One Tree Hill Rotary members.
Last night our Food and Hospitality students, planned, prepared, cooked and served a meal of exceptional quality. The young cooks produced a three course meal, (for each course guests could choose from two options) that would sit quite happily in any quality restaurant.
The staffroom had been transformed, the table settings beautiful and waitstaff (students) professional.
The evening was hosted by our Head Girl, Jasmine Nathan and Head Boy, Mycesan Salatielu, who welcomed guests and thanked the Rotary Club for their generous support of our school, including their paying for students to attend the Model United Nations Assembly. Karolina Vachudova 13Mm, Heron Twiss 13Mm and Kathryn Haley 13Mm who had attended M.U.N.A gave an entertaining summary of their experience ‘as Russians’ while sporting ushanka-hats!
The highlight of the evening was the surprise announcement that our Principal Ms Deidre Shea, had been awarded a ‘Paul Harris Fellow’ award. This prestigious Rotary Award is given Internationally, ‘in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world’. We are absolutely delighted for Ms Shea. We would like to congratulate Mr Peter Mayow, Mr Bede Brittenden and Mr Robin Hulford, for also being presented with a ‘Paul Harris Fellow’ award for their considerable service to Rotary and the community.
The evening concluded on a truly sweet note with fabulous desserts.
Sincere thanks and congratulations to Mr RyanThom, Mrs Shital Wati and their talented students.
