Niuean Speech Contest Success

Kerry                                          Phillip                                       Joseph

Congratulations to Kerry Tasmania 10Mx, Phillip Puhotau 10Mx and Joseph Haioti 12Pj on their success in the 2019 Pacific Speech Competition which was held as part of Polyfest.

This year the competition was sponsored by the Ministry of Education. The topic for Junior students was ‘To Teach Me, You Must Understand Me’. Each of the students competed in the Niuean section and they were very impressive. Phillip came first in the Junior Boys’ and Kerry was first in the Junior Girls’. Kerry was announced overall Junior Winner!

As a Senior Joseph’s topic was, ‘What Opportunities Are There in School To Support Lifelong Learning’. Joseph did extremely well and was placed third.

It takes a great deal of work and courage to stand on stage and speak in your native tongue in front of an audience. We are absolutely delighted that Kerry, Phillip and Joseph took up the challenge and represented themselves, their family, community and school. They should be as proud of themselves, as we are of them.
