Much Ado About Nothing

Senior drama students delighted audiences with their production of William Shakespeare’s comedy ‘Much Ado About Nothing’.

Set in Southern Italy this comedy of errors is all about love and passion, misunderstanding, false claims and gossip. Some 400 years after the death of Shakespeare so much of the play remains entirely relatable.

Sincere congratulations to our Drama students who delivered the play in Elizabethan English and did not falter! Their execution of the puns had the audience in awe and very amused. The set design, greatly enhanced by the backdrop of photo’s of Italy provided by Mrs Dillaman from her recent trip, was simple yet effective.

Putting on any production requires an enormous amount of work and everyone involved in this deserves mention, however particular congratulations must go to the students and to the Director Mrs Sarah Dillaman, who was ably assisted by alumnus Cooper Sutton (class of 2017) who generously gave up his time to return to OHS and lend his expertise to the production. Thank you to nurse Ms Sheryl Cox for giving up her time to organise the wardrobe for the play.

A wonderful production that left the audience very satisfied, pleased that Claudio (Reuben Smith) finally gets to marry Hero (Maya Edmonds) and Benedick (Jonathon Loa) marries the very feisty Beatrice (Sisifo Esekia). Everyone finally is happy!
