LAC Poets- Spoken Word Club

If you are someone who has a lot to say, perhaps you should have come a long to the LAC Spoken Word Club’s first meeting held on Tuesday this week.

The group was lucky enough to have Ramon Narayan, a member of the South Auckland Poets Collective, return to OHS to take a workshop which students really enjoyed. When they first arrived they were perhaps a little quiet, however after several hilarious games, students certainly found their voices and a competitive streak! There was much laughter and camaraderie, as students quickly became comfortable and grew in confidence.

Spoken word is writing that is meant to be read or performed out loud. Ramon showed students just how easy it is to write a spoken word poem by taking them through some simple steps. The idea is for students to develop their confidence and their voice. This is a vehicle for you to share your true self, your passions or concerns with others, all while having a lot of fun.

If this sounds like you, come a long to the next meeting. See Ms Kaur and keep an eye on the daily notices.
