Level 3 Business students are excited to be part of ‘YES’ (Young Enterprise Scheme). OHS has seven teams competing this year.
The programme is designed to propel students into entrepreneurship and give them the confidence to be problem solvers and perhaps future business leaders. Over a thousand students working in groups will start their own business, having developed a product and brought it to market. They will learn essential skills along the way, like problem solving, creative communication, leadership, decision making, time management and networking.
This is experiential learning at its best. Students are given the opportunity to meet business leaders and be inspired by the success of others. They can network with teams from all over the country and compete with each other for significant prizes. They are mentored and attend specialist seminars during the year.
This week, students attended the first of these seminars with students from the other schools in our group. This was an opportunity for students to develop their business ideas and to begin to formulate plans for funding and mentoring.
There are trips and competitions for students to participate in. We are looking forward to following them on their journey, and to support their fledgling businesses.
