On Friday 2nd of June, 14 students of the Te Ara Wananga Buchanan Trust Scholarship Program visited the University of Auckland to hear inspirational lectures, tour the campus and learn about the opportunities offered in terms of the different degrees, scholarships, academic support and other services for undergraduates.
Lectures from Peter Bier, Professional Teaching Fellow of the Engineering Faculty, on a mathematical model using juggling balls to construct mathematical models, was entertaining and illuminating; while the lecture from Rennie Atfield-Douglas, Assistant Pro Vice-Chancellor Pacific was very insightful. Josephina Tamatoa and four student ambassadors shared their experiences of working and studying at UoA they were very encouraging and empowering for our students.
Students gained a lot of information and came away from the day encouraged and inspired to pursue academic excellence. Photos – students were shown the Clocktower which houses some of the Student Services and the Vice Chancellors office.
