House Finished and Signed Off !

Congratulations to the staff and students in the Building School, who have completed the house they built this year to the usual high standard.

This is the eleventh year the school has built a house. The first 4 were built for Habitat for Humanity and OHS was supported by Rotary for these houses. The next 5 houses were sold by the school on the open market and the last 2 have been built for Kāinga Ora.

Rotarians visited the school last night  to admire the house and celebrated another successful build with a barbecue.

Staff acknowledged the tremendous efforts of students this year, who have remained, engaged and enthusiastic, and have left with skills that will equip them well for work in the industry.

Huge thanks to our volunteers, Rotarians Mr Peter Mayow and Mr Ernie Meyer, who have continued their involvement with the projects from the very first house. Mr Meyer, a retired builder spends a considerable amount of time at school, on the site upskilling students every week, all as a volunteer.  Ernie is inspirational. Onehunga High School has benefitted from his unwavering  support and generosity for many years. Thank you Ernie!
