What a pleasure it was to attend the First Foundation Awards evening this week.
First Foundation and its scholarship partners, provide scholarships that transform the lives of those students fortunate enough to receive one.
The evening was hosted by the highly entertaining actor, singer and comedian Pio Terei and was a chance to hear from graduates whose lives have been profoundly changed by the foundations ‘hand up’, which includes financial, mentorship and work experience support.
Gabriel Taani 13Wt and Marama Elliott-Keepa 13Tn are about to embark on their journey with the First Foundation, after they were awarded scholarships last year. It was wonderful to catch up with OHS alumna Louanna King and Prescilla Pome’e who were awarded First Foundation scholarships in 2018 and were presented with the other graduates of the programme, on the night. We look forward to hearing more from them in the future.
The foundation removes barriers to success, it allows students the space to achieve their dreams. The foundation's founder Steven Carten implored young people to dream big and be consistent in their drive to attain their goals.
