OHS students were thanked for their part in raising over $100,000 for Ronald Mc Donald House, the charity that supports whanau who have children in Starship Hospital.
OHS Level 2&3 catering students and their teacher and former chef Mr Ryan Thom were approached by alumnus, chef William Mordido, to assist with the preparation of food for a prestigious charity dinner held at St Matthews in the City.
Never known to shy away from a challenge, our catering students prepared 2000 delicious canapes for the event on a very busy day. Issac Nair 13Bn and Noah Philpott 12 Al invented a venison, goats cheese and kumara canape from the ingredients supplied, that was served on the night and received high praise!
Having prepared 2000 canapes four of the students then accompanied Mr Thom into the event where they helped with plating, the entrees, mains and desserts.
Exhausted but satisfied, their 14 hour day finally came to an end. Congratulations to all the Catering students. What a fantastic effort!
