Staff and students of Onehunga High School congratulate Mr and Mrs Meyer who were both presented with their Queens Service Medal at an investiture ceremony held yesterday at Government House Auckland.

The ceremony was hosted by Her Excellency The Governor-General of New Zealand, The Rt Hon Dame Cindy Kiro, GNZM, QSO. This was the culmination of a lifetime of service. Mr Ernest Meyer QSM was rewarded for services to the community and education. Mrs Maureen Meyer QSM, for services to the community. As beneficiaries of particularly Ernie’s extraordinary generosity and service to our school over many years we could not be more delighted.

Surrounded by all their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who all attended this most prestigious ceremony, Ernie and Maureeen were formally recognised with their medals. A high tea followed and the celebrations for the Meyers continued late into the night. Needless to say Ernie was back at school as usual, bright and early this morning!
