Guidance and Health support during the Isolation Period

 He waka eke noa

Our OHS school community is very much together even though we are physically distanced. Our Prime Minister has given us clear instructions about what we must do to stop the spread of COVID-19. Although you have to isolate within your home; we want you to know we are here to support and help you to get through this tough time. Here are some things you can do to help yourself and your whanau:

KEEP CONNECTED

supporting each other is really important it helps us feel safer, less stressed and less anxious and there are lots of ways of doing it without leaving the house.

KEEP UP ROUTINES

or make new ones. Routines help anchor you, provide structure and establish some predictability to combat the uncertainty.

FIND WAYS TO BE ACTIVE EVERYDAY

Make time to do something active every day for at least 30 minutes. This will help burn off stress hormones, keep your immune system strong and your mind sharp.

FIND WAYS TO CONNECT WITH NATURE

Getting outside will make it easier for you to feel calm and connected to the bigger world than the one coronavirus would have us live in.

FIND WAYS TO NOTICE THE GOOD THINGS

Notice the beauty in the world around you. Take time to feel the warmth of the sun, breathe in the fresh air and think about the things and the people you are grateful for. Take time to say thank you. Take time to give compliments.

LIMIT YOUR INFORMATION INTAKE

Pick one source you can trust (like the Ministry of Health’s website) and check it once a day. Information overload will feed anxiety and negative feelings.

BE KIND

to yourself, your whanau and the people in your community. He waka eke noa.
