Year 9 students were warmly welcomed into the OHS whanau with a Powhiri led by Kaumatua Heta Clarke; we are honoured to have him support our school.
Principal Deidre Shea, extended her welcome to all students, whanau and staff as they begin a new and exciting journey at OHS. Being anxious when you begin anything new is completely normal and to be expected. Kaitiaki, peer support leaders and the senior leadership are all there to support students. Miss Trudy Dobbie, Year 9 Dean, looks forward to meeting and getting to know you all. Mrs Michelle Heather, Senior Manager in charge of Year 9 has very high expectations of you.
Students are encouraged to become involved in the life of the school. Trials for summer sports begin very soon. Don’t be afraid to try something new, you don’t have to be an expert to join a team! If sport doesn’t interest you, there are a large number of activities for you to choose from. This is a great way to make new friends and learn new skills. Make sure that you check the notices on the school website to see what is available.
All OHS students are expected to show respect at all times: respect for yourself, respect for other students, respect for staff and for the environment.
We wish all of you a happy and exciting start to your journey at OHS.
